1 Scope and field of application
This standard establishes a system of classification and designation for PTFE moulding materials'), based on their chemical structure, polymerization or emulsion method and
main application, any essential additives and filler type and content, and their designatory properties.

Since the designation system does not cover all properties of a material, moulding materials assigned the same designation according to this standard are not necessarily interchangeable.

Additional properties will often be required for a particular application or method of processing, and these shall be subject to agreement between the customer and supplier.
They shall be determined using the test methods specified in DIN 16782 Part 2, if these are applicable, and may be included in the designation system (clause 3).
